Dear colleagues and students! We draw your attention to the information on the possibility of passing the certification exam for English language proficiency!
There are many foreign students seeking to participate in the English language program, but are from countries where English is not the first language. A big question when granting applicants admission to your program is: "How well do these applicants understand English?" Universities in English speaking countries that accept foreign students require that these applicants pass an internationally recognized exam of Academic English before studies can begin. There are only four internationally recognized exams of Academic English. The universities require that students present results from one of these four exams: 1. IELTS - Academic 2. TOEFL 3. iTEP - Academic PLUS 4. PTE - Academic (Pearson Test of English) This language center is currently teaching English to a number of international students who will be attending medical universities in Russia this Autumn. At the end of the English prep course, we will be requiring each student take the iTEP - Academic PLUS exam. If the results of this exam (above a certain minimal level) were to be accepted by Stavropol State Medical University, it would go a long way in simplifying the admission process for these students. The iTEP exam (as well as the IELTS, TOEFL and PTE) is available in the home countries of most of your foreign students (India, Kenya, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, etc.). They can take the exam at their convenience, and you can have the results prior to their arrival on campus. For your review, I have attached a chart comparing the scores of the four different internationally recognized Academic English exams. There is also a comparison to the CEFR (Common European Framework of References for Languages. If you have any questions regarding the iTEP - Academic PLUS exam, you may visit the website of Boston Educational Services (BES), at www.itepexam.com.
