A list of dates and significant events in the history of Stavropol State Medical University that are important for national healthcare and medicine
May 25, 1937 – Resolution No. 338 of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and the Central Committee of the CPSU(b) was adopted on the transfer of the administrative center of Ordzhonikidze Krai from Pyatigorsk to Voroshilovsk (now Stavropol) and on the opening of the state Medical Institute in Voroshilovsk in this regard.
September 1, 1938 – Voroshilov State Medical Institute was opened.
On September 19, 1938, classes began in the first year of the Faculty of Medicine.
October 22, 1938 – the first meeting of the Voroshilov Medical Institute Council was held.
June 23, 1941 – the first group of mobilized employees and students of the Institute was sent to the front.
August 21, 1941 – the evacuated Dnepropetrovsk Medical Institute joined the Voroshilov Medical Institute.
August 1, 1942 – diplomas were awarded to the first graduate of the Voroshilov State Medical Institute.
August 3, 1942 – the Institute ceased its activities due to the occupation. According to official data, 33 employees of the Institute and 35 members of their families, as well as a number of students and graduates of the Institute in 1942, were killed.
January 21, 1943 – the work of the Institute was restored after the occupation. The Institute was renamed Stavropol State Medical Institute (SGMI).
June 3, 1944 – the second (military) graduation of medical personnel.
March 23, 1945 – the third (military) graduation of medical personnel.
December 1946 – the first collection of works of the SSMI was published.
1954 – By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the head of the Department of Psychiatry A.J. Dorsht was awarded the highest Order of the country – the Order of Lenin for his great contribution to the development of healthcare.
October 7, 1958 – by order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR No. 1045, the Faculty of Dentistry was opened at the Stavropol Medical Institute.
September 1, 1959 – the training of the first foreign students at the Faculty of Medicine began.
1960 – the construction of the new main building of the Institute was completed. A dental clinic was opened.
June 20, 1962 – the first operation was performed as part of the comprehensive treatment of kyphosis in tuberculous spondylitis by associate professor M.S. Makarov according to the method developed by him.
June 29, 1963 – the first graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry.
December 11, 1965 – by Order of the Ministry of Health of the RSFSR No. 349, the Faculty of Advanced Medical Training was opened.
December 2, 1966 – By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Associate Professor of the Department of Hospital Surgery M.S. Makarov was awarded the highest order of the country - the Order of Lenin for his great scientific, pedagogical and therapeutic work.
January 27, 1967 – the first defense of a PhD thesis by a graduate student of the university in the dissertation council of the Institute.
February 4, 1969 – By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, V.I. Skorokhodova, a graduate of Stavropol State Medical University, was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor.
February 20, 1973 – by Order of the Ministry of Health of the RSFSR No. 69, the pediatric faculty was opened at the Stavropol State Medical Institute.
July 2, 1974 – by Order of the Ministry of Health of the RSFSR No. 317, the Faculty of Advanced Training of teachers of medical schools was opened at the Stavropol State Medical Institute.
June 19, 1979 – the first graduate of the pediatric faculty.
September 1, 1980 – the Dean's Office for work with foreign students began its work.
1982 – a 5-storey educational and laboratory (morphological) building was commissioned at the corner of Lomonosov and Mira streets.
1985 – the 4-storey educational and laboratory building of the Faculty of Dentistry with a dental laboratory at 6 Morozova Street was put into operation.
1992 – the 6-storey academic building No. 3 at 8 Pushkin Street was put into operation.
April 5, 1994 – the eye microsurgery clinic was opened, which became part of the Stavropol State Medical Institute.
June 15, 1994 – on the basis of the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 09/11/92 No. 1691-R and in accordance with the order of the State University of Russia dated 06/15/94 No. 586 and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Russia dated 06/15/1994 No. 127, the Stavropol State Medical Institute was transformed into the Stavropol State Medical Academy.
1996 – in order to provide specialized medical psychiatric care to victims of terror in the North Caucasus, a clinic for borderline conditions was organized at the StGMA.
July 1997 – in memory of the Honored Physician of the Russian Federation, an outstanding pediatrician, professor, organizer of the Department of Pediatric Diseases G.K. Filippsky, the children's city clinical hospital began to bear his name.
1998 – the children's dental clinic was transferred to the Academy.
May 17, 1999 – on the basis of the Order of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation No. 166, the Faculty of Higher Nursing Education was opened at the Stavropol State Medical Academy.
1999 – the sports and recreation complex was put into operation.
2001 – the Academy was awarded the international award "Cannes Silver Medal" and the title "Flagship of the XXI century", as the most dynamically developing enterprise.
September 10, 2004 – Diploma for the opening of No.256 reg. No. 309 "Regularity of morphofunctional modular organization of secretory activity of the pancreas" was received by Candidate of Medical Sciences T.M. Makarova in collaboration with V.I. Onopriev, G.F. Korotko, S.E. Voskanyan.
2005 – Diploma No. 279 for the discovery of "Properties of gas components of gas-foam media to have an immunomodulatory effect on the human body and animals" (application for discovery No. A-336 dated November 19, 2004) was received by Professor L.E. Starokozhko in collaboration with N.M. Samutin, A.A. Korsikov and V.N.Seleznev.
2007 – the new library building at 310 Mira Street was put into operation.
September 2, 2009 – The diploma for the discovery No. 381 "The phenomenon of transdermal transfer by nanovesicles of organosilicon nature of biologically active substances into human and animal tissue cells" was received by Professor I.A. Bazikov, P.A. Omelianchuk and Czech citizen B. Rzhigova.
March 25, 2010 – The Council of Veterans of the Academy was established.
May 6, 2010 – a recreated monument to employees and students who died during the Great Patriotic War was opened.
May 20, 2010 – The Association of Graduates of the Alma mater Academy was established.
June 30, 2010 – The Academy's History Museum was established.
September 1, 2011 – the Institute of Postgraduate and Additional Education began its work, created on the basis of two faculties – the Faculty of Postgraduate and Additional Education and the Faculty of Advanced Training of Teachers.
September 1, 2011 – the new Faculty of Humanities and Biomedical Education began its work. It was established on the basis of the Faculty of Higher Nursing Education on the basis of the order of the rector of GBOU HPE "StGMA" of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia dated 05/06/2011 No. 315-OD on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of StGMA, Protocol No. 11 dated 04/27/11.
April 29, 2011 – The Academy's Practical Skills Center was opened.
December 19, 2011 – by Order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation No. 1574, the Essentuki Medical College was joined to the Academy as a branch.
January 25, 2012 – The Academic Council of the Academy decided to establish the Board of Trustees of the Academy.
April 18, 2012 – The Center for Scientific and Innovative Development was opened.
September 28, 2012 – A clinic for endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery was opened at the Academy.
On February 1, 2013, by Order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. 46, Stavropol Medical Academy received the status of a university.
November 26, 2015 – By Order of the Minister of Health "On the organization of work on the formation of scientific and educational clusters" No. 844, the North Caucasian Medical Scientific and educational cluster was established, the leading university of which was Stavropol State Medical University.
March 27, 2015 – the first graduation of bachelors at the Faculty of Humanities and Biomedical Education.
April 8, 2015 – a memorial board in memory of the Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Professor M.P. Vodolatsky, was unveiled on the building of the dental clinic of Stavropol State Medical University (October Revolution Avenue).
September 1, 2016 – a memorial plaque was unveiled on the building of the Eye Microsurgery Clinic of Stavropol State Medical University in memory of the Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, the organizer of the clinic, Professor L.P. Cherednichenko.
2021 - the International Academy of Authors of Scientific discoveries registered the fourth scientific discovery in the history of StSMU. As a result of the examination by leading scientific and educational institutions of Russia and India, the Russian-Indian discovery "The phenomenon of synergy of endogenous antimicrobial and low molecular weight placental peptides in the composition of a niosomal gel" was established, made by an international group of scientists led by the head of the Department of Microbiology, MD, Professor I.A. Bazikov.
The effective interaction of StSMU and Delhi State University of Pharmacy makes it possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of treatment for the regeneration of diabetic ulcers, wounds and burns infected with antibiotic-resistant microorganisms.
2021 - Forbes magazine has compiled a rating of the best Russian universities, evaluating them in terms of the quality of education, networking, the demand for graduates among employers and the presence of the university in leading foreign rankings. This year, 14 medical universities were included in the TOP100. The highest position – the 27th – was taken by the First Sechenov Moscow State Medical University. The Pirogov Russian National Research University was in the 51st position, followed by the Volga Research Medical University (54th place), the First St. Petersburg State Medical University named after Academician I.P. Pavlov (58th), the Moscow State Medical University named after A.I. Evdokimova (77th), Stavropol State Medical University (79th), Orenburg State Medical University (80th), Tver State Medical University (81st), Perm State Medical University named after Academician E.A. Wagner (82nd), St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University (86th), Kazan GMU (92nd), SibSMU (96th), Voronezh State Medical University named after N.N. Burdenko (97th) and NWSMU named after I.I. Mechnikov (99th). In 64th place was another university subordinate to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation – St. Petersburg State University of Chemistry and Pharmacy.
